The band Mae might be without a record label, but they're not without a cause.
Each month during 2009, the band members -- singer Dave Elkins, guitarist Zach Gehring and drummer Jacob Marshall -- post a new song on their Web site. For a donation of merely one dollar you can download a different track from the modern rockers, and all the profits will be donated to humanitarian efforts.
The first project Mae has in the works will be raising $65,000 to build a home for Rhonda Floyd and her three children in Virginia. With the help of Habitat for Humanity, the band will document the project from start to finish. Says Marshall, "We believe there is a better way to function as a band. This is our experiment into the realms of what is possible."
