Will Pike and his girlfriend, Kelly Doyle, are lucky to be alive today. The couple was on vacation during the recent Mumbai attacks, during which terrorists had invaded the hotel where they were staying. In an attempt to escape harm, Will fell 50 feet, severely injuring himself.
While Will was recovering in a South London hospital, he had to miss seeing comedian Eddie Izzard, whose show he had already bought tickets for. Will's dad, Nigel, wrote to the British funnyman asking for a simple note as a way to cheer up his son.
Will never got that note. Instead, Izzard showed up in his hospital room and performed his entire 90-minute show for the recovering patient. As proof of the old adage, Will's dad said the laughter that filled the hospital room was "the best medicine his son could receive."
