Waitress's Tip Pays for Cosmetology School

There's something about college-bound waitresses that inspire hefty tips from restaurant patrons. Maybe the nice folks in this story heard about the $10,000 tip that Jessica Osborne got for college and then stepped up their own giving.

Kristina Downes is a waitress at Saylors Old Country Kitchen in Portland, Ore. Kristina often talked to two of her regular customers, a woman and her father, about her dreams of attending cosmetology school and the loans she planned on taking out to pay for it.

The two customers had another idea.

They asked to see the paperwork for the school, which they looked over while enjoying their dinner. After they finished eating and the plates were cleared, the father-daughter duo gave Kristina a check for $14,000 to cover her tuition. Said Kristina, "I just hugged her for about three minutes and we were crying and it was the best day of my life."
